The English intake could not be confirmed

An audit of the faculty's current admissions pages on 2026-08-12 did not find a 2026-2027 first-year intake for Medicine in English. What it did find is that the current foreign-language first-year intake is Medicine in German.

That is a more fundamental problem than a missing fee, and it is why this page leads with it. This catalog still holds an English Medicine record for Osijek, and the faculty maintains an English-language programme page — but an applicant planning a 2026-2027 start needs to establish that the English route is actually recruiting before doing anything else. Write to the faculty at medicina@mefos.hr and ask directly whether English-taught first-year places exist for the cycle you want.

If the English route is not running, the German-taught programme is a different proposition entirely: a different language of instruction, different preparation, and a language requirement that arrives immediately rather than in the clinical years.

Tuition for the English program is not published on the programme page either, and no figure was recoverable during the audit. This site therefore shows no amount for Osijek. Rijeka, Split and Zagreb all charge exactly €12,000 a year, confirmed for 2026-2027, which makes it tempting to assume Osijek matches — but a €12,000 assumption over six years is €72,000 of planning resting on a guess about a programme whose availability is itself unconfirmed.

Three sciences, through the national system

Entry requires completed four-year high school, a passed mandatory segment of the state graduation exam, and the elective subjects biology, physics and chemistry. The application runs through the national NISpVU system at postani-student.hr.

Naming physics alongside biology and chemistry is the substantive difference from the rest of the region. Bulgaria, Slovakia and Greece's Thessaly all examine two sciences; Osijek requires three as electives on the state exam. An applicant optimising for a biology-and-chemistry route will find the physics requirement is not a preference here.

Rijeka also admits through the national system, but describes its requirements as prerequisite courses with mandatory and optional tests. Osijek names the exact three electives, which is more useful two years out when subject choices are still open — and it is the more restrictive of the two if physics is not on your timetable.

As with Rijeka, the upstream question for an international applicant is whether your qualifications can be scored inside the Croatian national system at all. Resolve that before anything else, because a file that cannot be ranked has nowhere to go.

The fee and calendar evidence here is the thinnest of the four Croatian programs, but the regulatory evidence is not. The degree runs six years across 12 semesters to a Doctor of Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine Osijek. Local-language competence is normally required for patient contact.
