BulgariaBGVerified ProgramsTrakia University runs one English-taught health program in Stara Zagora, in medicine. Its confirmed 2026-27 fee is €9,000 a year.
Average source completeness across verified programs.
BulgariaTrakia offers three separate entrance-exam sittings across a single summer and publishes exactly how the ranking is computed: doubled test marks plus your diploma grades in biology and chemistry. It is the one Bulgarian medicine program without a confirmed current fee — the most recently published amount dates from the 2024-2025 cycle.
Applications open 1 April 2026. English examinations are held on 6 June, 25 July and 22 August, with biology and chemistry the following day each time — 7 June, 26 July and 23 August 2026 — and the final ranking on 28 August.
Three chances in one admissions year is the most of any program on this site. Šafárik offers two, Banja Luka two, Thessaloniki two application cycles; Trakia gives you June, late July and late August. For an applicant who wants to sit early, see the result and re-sit if it is not enough, this is the calendar that permits it.
The two deadlines run the conventional way round, unlike San Raffaele in Milan: non-EU applicants close on 1 July 2026 and EU or EEA applicants on 21 August 2026, giving the visa-requiring group the earlier date and the lead time it needs. Application documents differ between the two categories and must arrive by your category's deadline, not the later one.
Selection is stated as doubled test marks plus the biology and chemistry marks from your secondary diploma. An English examination is required if English is not an official language in your country.
Doubling the entrance-test marks means the exam counts twice as heavily as the school grades attached to it, so a strong sitting can outweigh a mediocre transcript — but the transcript never disappears, because your diploma biology and chemistry marks are added on top rather than used as a threshold. An applicant with weak school science cannot fully exam their way past it here, which is a different bargain from Patras in Greece, where the diploma is only 20% of a rubric weighted towards English and interview.
Combined with three sittings, the formula tells you what to do: sit early, see the number, and use a later sitting to improve the doubled half of your score.
The most recently published figure is €7,500 per year, derived from an officially published first-semester fee of €3,750, and it comes from the 2024-2025 cycle — so it is not confirmed for 2026-2027 and is the only Bulgarian medicine fee on this site in that position.
The other four are current and close together: €9,000 at Pleven, €9,950 at Sofia, and €10,000 at both Plovdiv and Varna. If Trakia's most recently published €7,500 were reconfirmed it would be the cheapest medicine in Bulgaria by €1,500 a year — but a fee two cycles old is exactly the kind of number that has usually moved, and it should be confirmed with the university before it decides anything.
Local-language competence is normally required for patient contact. The degree runs six years to a master's-level physician qualification from the Faculty of Medicine in Stara Zagora.
Applicants who want to sit early and re-sit if needed, whose secondary biology and chemistry grades are solid enough to survive being added to a doubled exam score, and who will get a current fee in writing before treating Trakia as Bulgaria's cheapest option.
